works
simply works with my mSATA. it is small in size, a bit bigger than mSATA itself and that's it. you'll probably have to be creative if you want to fit it in 2.5 SATA drive bay somehow. I use it like an external drive without case. Also I have a SATA clone device which only accepts SATA connection.

Works great, but some minor issues
The device seems to work as advertised. I ran into two problems, though - one minor and one that, unfortunately, basically negates the reason why I bought it in the first place, but doesn't appear to be the fault of the designers.First, the board does (thoughtfully) come with two sets of mounting holes, meaning it can accommodate both full-height and half-height mSATA cards. I was using a half-height card, which is when I discovered that the while the top two holes are tapped to accommodate mounting screws, the middle ones are not. Fortunately, this was easily solved with a pair of rubber grommets and nuts on the underside of the board. So, not exactly a deal-breaker, but just mildly inconvenient. The second problem was more serious. I was using an old Intel DG41AN Mini-ITX board. I had bought this adapter to try and fit the board into the smallest possible case I could find. Unfortunately, the DG41AN refused to boot from this device. It will POST, and then halt with a message to the effect that there is no bootable device. This despite the fact that the mSATA card shows up in the BIOS and I specifically put the mSATA card at the top of the boot list. Even stranger - if I hit F10 to bring up the boot menu during POST, the mSATA card shows up, and the DG41AN will then happily boot it. I then moved the mSATA card to a USB enclosure and set the DG41AN to boot from USB first. Same result. The board will claim that there is no bootable device, but bringing up the boot menu during POST will display the mSATA as a bootable device, and selecting it then allows the system to boot without any problems. So, the problem seems to be isolated to the Intel board, not the SMAKN card.Once booted, the SMAKN card seems to work perfectly. I had installed latest version of Ubuntu desktop on the mSATA, and even with the dinky little quad-core 2 GHz processor (the maximum that the Intel board would take), and just 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM, the OS was crisp and snappy. Firefox started up almost immediately upon clicking it, and read/write to the mSATA adapter were really fast.Bottom line - I really like this device. But if you plan to use it as a boot device, be aware that it may not work with older boards.

Great purchase for using an mSATA drive in an older laptop or desktop.Installing the mSATA drive (in my case a Samsung EVO 840 128GB) was a breeze. Once in place, and once plugged into the desktop using a SATA cable and power cable available in my system, things just worked.Nice way to repurpose an mSATA drive pulled from an upgraded laptop to speed up an older system.

Doesn't work
4 out of 5 of these adapters failed to function. Guessing that quality control doesn't matter to the people that make them.

Works excellent and compact too.
Perfect. Works exactly how I needed it to in the space I had. Very compact and fast as well. Using an MSata SSD in it as a boot drive.
