Great bulb!
I was a little leery of the bulb because it didn't look like the other types I always see. It had a few good reviews though, so I bought it anyways. I'm really glad I did! It seems to be really helping my plants. Now, you have to understand I live in Buffalo NY. Nearly eight months of the year it's just grey skies. In the winter, living in an apartment with virtually no natural light that filters in from outside because of a front porch and houses being so close, my plants suffer. I have boston ferns, aluminum plants, blood leaf, huernia etc etc. They do great in the summer months and barely survive the winter. I put this bulb in my new metal lamp and within 2-3 days my boston fern is perky. My cactus is growing upwards now instead of drooping. My aluminum plant stopped dying and it looking greener. The light is VERY bright and the plants seem to love it. I'm very pleased with this bulb and will probably purchase more in the future.

Very very weak amounts of UV, only works on a technicality. Avoid, invest in something that actually works.
Plants barely grew. It had a "golden" zone for growth of something like 10-16", anything closer will burn and anything further won't grow at all. It was still very, very bad. Tried over 14 plants (peppers, basic spices, tomatoes, a bunch of things) and none of them thrived, let alone survived. The amount of growth they'd achieve on these lamps within a week could be achieved in the window with indirect sunlight within two days. The plants outside in direct sunlight showed how drastic the difference really was.Still using it technically since we invested in so many, just been using it for side lamps. It DOES give off some form of UV, as it has yellowed some old resin material around the room (which is normal, resin will yellow in UV light). The spectrum it emits must be pretty weak I guess, since 0/14 plants survived when they were grown on these bulbs, and it took over 1 year to show any remotely noticeable yellowing on resin material (which, again, would have happened in a fraction of the time with proper UV)TLDR; Does not work to grow anything. It does, technically, give off very weak amounts of UV, just not enough to be of any actual usable benefit to anything that needs UV light to be healthy/alive like plants or some reptiles/fish/etc.

Stopped working after just two months - Boo.
I was very disappointed in this bulb. I bought it in December to help my daughter's Venus Flytrap out during the winter months. I had the bulb/light on a timer so I didn't have to think about turning it off/on. A couple weeks ago (in February) I realized that I didn't remember seeing the light on for a while and her plant was looking very sad. After checking the lamp with a different bulb, I realized that this lightbulb had stopped working at some point! This was not a cheap bulb and should have lasted much longer than two months. Disappointed. I found a different one - I would not buy this again.

Works great on my plants
My wife keeps the shades closed year-round, she's paranoid people will look in. So my house is always dark. I used this light for my kitchen herb garden and they have been growing great and fast. I have it on a 12-hour timer. and actually set it for on during the night. it doubles as a night time nightlight.

Good Buy
This is a great plant light. My indoor plants are going nuts for this after having nearly died off in a big move.
