Download the manual and read it first
Once I downloaded the manual and read all the instructions I love it. It comes with half inch tape which is great as it’s easy to read. Unfortunately I didn’t order the half inch size but I will next time.

Just buy! Don't let the reviews freak you out!
I ordered the dymo LM 280 with one roll of black on white tape. The product description and reviews said no ac adapter came with the unit, but mine came with an ac adapter. So, now I have to return the extra ac adapter I ordered. Anyways, this label maker doesn't even take batteries, so I'm thinking they have to give everyone an ac adapter. Everyone who is saying they needed 6 AAA batteries is full of it because it literally doesn't take batteries. The unit is extremely light weight to where it almost feels like a pretend toy label maker for a child. The unit is nice. You can literally hook it up to your laptop and print with any font, insert any image, etc. Its a quality device, and it definitely does much cooler stuff than any other label maker I've used. BUT... I don't want to say it, but I actually hate the way it looks lol The amazon photo looked like it would look similar to a Blackberry, but it looks like a gigantic fake scanning device from star trek. Also, I read a TON of reviews complaining about the amount of tape being wasted. I've used many label makers, and I have no idea what people are talking about. This label maker puts the same amount of space that every other label maker does. I'm actually wondering if people are reviewing an older model of the 280 (i don't even know if that exists) because I'm finding the tape/battery claims to be completely false. Plus, I literally ordered two rolls of black on white tape for $6 and you can get a better deal if you buy your tape in bulk. Seriously, if you want an awesome label maker and own a computer, this one is $26 and will literally print your face if you upload a picture of your face, it will just be a very tiny image of your face and in black and white lol But, don't buy this if you don't have a computer. The device on its own has less features than you could get with a $10 label maker, so you literally need a computer to access the awesome features. Also, your going to want only the 1/2" tape from now own, no matter what. I've always been a 3/8" girl, but since I can print so many cool fonts now, I need the wider tape to see my designs better. I actually got really bored the first time I used this because you have so many options! I usually like to waste my time making just the perfect label, but it literally took FOREVER to go through every one of my fonts, then add in pictures! I literally got bored and just picked whatever. Don't let everyone's stupid reviews freak you out. I honestly was so concerned about buying this or some other label maker on Amazon. But, then finally I realized you have to buy Dymo. You can't not buy a Dymo. And I'm really surprised I could get a label maker this cool for only $26! Even if it looks like a $4 star trek kids toy.

*READ INSTRUCTIONS* Struggling to decide?? Read this review and then buy!
Got my DYMO LABELMANAGER 280 today! First of all when reading reviews make sure you read the review for the CORRECT LABELER NAME you are looking at buying. All reviews for all labelers are on the same page so be careful when taking reviews into consideration.FONTS-I saw a lot of people in other reviews expected 20 different fonts on the labeler. It says in description “font styles” this is NOT the same thing as fonts like the 100s you can choose from on Microsoft Word. There are only 3 different types of fonts on the labeler titled “Basic” “Fun” and “Serif”. You can also choose Bold, Italics or Underline and the sizes come in 8,10,12,16,20 and 24 pt size. You cannot review what these look like on the screen before printing though only when they print. You can also print vertically. I posted a photo of samples of the 3 different fonts.IN BOX- I received the labeler, a dymo label cassette (black print on white), the usb cord to print from computer and the adapter to plug into labeler and wall to charge the battery NOT to power the labeler on. The labeler also had a protective film over the screen which was nice! Along with an instruction booklet.IMPORTANT!- before you even touch the labeler ***READ THE INSTRUCTIONS*** I feel like this is where a lot of people went wrong and had issues with the labeler in the other reviews because they did not read the booklet and what the company advised. I posted a photo of what each button is on the labeler also from the bookletIt says in the booklet the battery SHOULD come half charged (this was not the case for me but that wasn’t a big deal at all) I noticed when I put battery in and tried to turn it on it popped up “charge battery” so I plugged it up and left it alone for about an hour. After that I unplugged it and it powered up just fine with a fully charged battery and the printing began!DOES NOT WASTE TAPE like the brother brand seems to and the tape cassettes I believe are just as much, I actually ordered some colored tape that were $8/cassette that go with this labeler so I’m excited to try those!Of course I’ve only had this a day so I will update my review if anything changes but I struggled getting this product based on others reviews and issues but decided to take a chance anyways. Also if you are not using the labeler for a while then REMOVE THE BATTERY to preserve its life :) I hope others who are struggling like me find this review helpful to them!I have not tested this on printing from computer yet because we receive our new one tomorrow so I will after that and update on the turn out from that. This labeler is a very decent size as shown in my photo the keypad fits comfortably in my hand and not too heavy and also cuts the tale very smoothly.

A little misleading
When reviewing label makers, I was happy to see that this comes with a 1x tape. Unfortunately, the tape it comes with is just 10ft long where a standard tape is 23ft. So less than half a tape... The other issue I have with this label maker is the software. Found that the current version (for Windows 11) v 1.4.7 seems to not work at all. No matter what I tried, it refused to "see" the label maker. After a couple of hours of troubleshooting and making no progress, I finally found that the prior version v 1.4.6 of the software worked without issue.
