My wife wanted to colour her hair during lockdown as the golden half hair highlights had completely grown out leaving dark/mid brown hair with grey.She was worried about how it would turn out and so decided to try the demi permanent 73 medium ash (blond) colour. She wasn't sure if it would make any difference but didn't want to end up darker which would have looked too harsh.She did the patch test and her hair just seemed to look the same colour after 20 mins - although the grey seemed to be coloured over. She then did the full hair - leaving it on for 20 mins. It was easy to use and the instructions very clear.Her dark to mid brown/ grey hair has now slightly lightened to a attractive mid brown colour with a hint of gold brown in it. All the grey has gone and it is a nice even colour throughout. So far a success.She can't comment on how long it will last as she has just coloured it

Recently had my hair colour lifted as I had been using a permanent light brown and it was looking black. I was now back to the colour I was in my 20s and was advised not to use a permanent colour and to go for a lighter colour. First time I used this colour I left it on as instructed, but the second time for 45 minutes.I've now placed this as a monthly order as not always available in retail shops.

Could not find in my supermarket so to my surprise found on Amazon and a good price .Grey hairs covered again .I luv these demi permanent dyes and this one so easy to apply .

I have used this product for years and it is very good.

I used this during lockdown and beyond because at that point I was not ready to grow out my grey hair. I am now, but mistakenly thought that, as it says on the packaging, that it washes out after 24 shampoos. It doesn't. 6 weeks and 24 shampoos later, when it hadn't faded at all, I tried a dye stripper, which made no difference whatsoever. I then wrote to Clairol, who told me that since my hair is grey, there was not a lot of pigment in the cuticle naturally, and so the pigment in the dye has deposited itself there and will not wash out. It was suggested that I visit my hairdresser, although they couldn't specify what a hairdresser would do. I do understand that most people want their dye to last longer, so that's a plus, but clearly the idea of being able to use demi permanent dye to gently go grey and avoid a line of demarcation will not work. I do feel this should be pointed out on the packaging, especially since it says it covers grey. Now, at 8 weeks since my last dye, I'm resigned to having to just wait it out because the dye is going nowhere.
